New Jersey Abilities Expo – May 1-3, 2015

It was another great weekend for Crytico in New Jersey!  Over the three days of the Abilities Expo trade show, we had the pleasure of speaking with lots of consumers from all over the Northeast.

Our new friend John

Our main goal for exhibiting at the expo is to grow awareness for Crytico.com.  Since the website is fairly new, any exposure we can get for it is wonderful and the expo provides a perfect medium to promote it.  Lots of people wanted to give us reviews on the spot, like the ones below:

Braun Chrysler Wheechair Van

Savaria Home Elevator

Pride Go-Go LX

Brett and Monique

We also had the pleasure of meeting Brett from a unique website called BrettApproved.com.  Brett started Brettapprved a year ago and it is a review website for the accessibility of restaurants, theaters and hotels.  Where yelp users rate the food, the cleanliness of various places, Brettapproved lets people write about how accessible all of these places are.  ADA standards are great, but they cover the bare minimum of what many users actually need.

Helpful Tips When Shopping for Mobility Products

Whether you are in the market for a walker or a wheelchair accessible vans, shopping for mobility products can be overwhelming and frustrating at times.  It can also, and should be, interesting and fun.  We’ve created some helpful tips for you to use when you start your search for any type of mobility solution.

mobility reviews

Getting Started
Get yourself a notebook or create a folder on your computer/tablet so you can stay organized.  Firstly, do some initial research online for the product you are in the market for and list the various manufacturers you find.  For example, if you are in the market for a home stair lift, do some google searches on “home stair lift manufacturer”.  Write the manufacturers, their website URL’s and phone numbers in your notebook.  Secondly, do research on the various products made by those manufacturers you identified.  For example, do you need a curved stair lift vs. a straight stair lift?   Do you want a side entry wheelchair van or a rear entry accessible van?  Then eliminate any manufacturers that don’t make exactly what you need. Next, call the manufacturers you have left on your list and ask them questions like:
1. Do you have a local dealer in my area?  If so, get the information and write it down; get the dealer/s website URL and phone number.  We also suggest getting multiple dealers so you can get multiple quotes.
2. What makes your product better/different than your competition?
3. What is your warranty and how does the process work in the event something goes wrong?
4. What is your MSRP pricing?

Remember to take notes for each person you talk to and ask each manufacturer the same questions so you can compare the information you gathered.  Get their name, the date and time you talked with them, highlights of your conversation, etc.  You’ll be surprised how taking a little bit of time to document everything will make things so much easier in the long run.

Insurance
Call your insurance company/companies as some mobility products can be covered by medicare, medicaid and private insurance.  Again, take notes for who you talked with, when and the highlights of the conversation.  If you are in he market for wheelchairs, or other durable medical equipment the insurance part can be very confusing so the more organized you are, the better.

Organizations
If you have a disability that has a national organization like Multiple Sclerosis Cerebral Palsy or Paralyzed Veterans of America, contact them as they may have resources and funding assistance available.

Reviews
Now that you have information on the products you want to investigate further, the dealers that support those products and a ballpark of price, it’s time to read peer reviews.  Log onto www.crytico.com and first enter your zip code to read reviews on mobility dealers.  Does one have better reviews than another?  Does the dealer respond to customer reviews?  Next, search for the products you have researched and read those consumer reviews.  Those reviews might help lean you in a certain direction or may steer you away from a product and/or mobility provider.

wheelchair review

Dealers and Providers
You’ve read the reviews and narrowed down a couple of dealers to contact.  Have a list of questions ready that you want to ask them, like:
1. What is the price of the product and any installation that may be involved
2. Ask them if they handle insurance if anything is covered from your previous research
3. Ask them about the product you have researched; do they recommend it, ask about their quality records, any warranty issues, etc.
4. If you are in the market for a wheelchair van or wheelchair, ensure you try it out to ensure a proper fit.

Remember to write down who you talked to, and when.  By the time you area at this step, you may have talked with a dozen people so your diligent notes will come in handy.

Notes, Notes, Notes
We cannot stress this enough; notes and more notes.  Don’t risk frustration and disappointment.

How Does Crytico Work – Part 3: Getting The Best Quote

At the core of Crytico.com is mobility reviews and empowering consumers to write and read reviews on thousands of mobility products and local providers who sell and install those products.  One benefit of having thousands of products and listed on the Crytico website is the ability for you to do research as well as get quotes and be connected with authorized distributors of those products.

How do I get a quote?
Glad you asked, it’s as easy as four steps:

1. Go to www.crtico.com and click on one of the 3 main verticals that fits he product you are researching.  There is Vehicle Mobility Products that would include anything that has to do with a vehicle, i.e. driving controls, lift seats, wheelchair securement, scooter lifts and wheelchair vans.  The second category is Personal Mobility Products that includes scooters, wheelchairs (both power and manual), standing aids, sporting adaptive equipment, etc.  The last category is Home Mobility Products which has to do with things in and around your home like stair lifts, ramps, ceiling rail systems, and platform lifts.

Mobility Vehicle Review2. Let’s say in this example the customer is looking for a wheelchair lift for their vehicle.  They would click on the “Lift” icon which takes you to a page of all types of wheelchair and scooter lifts for vehicles as shown below.

wheelchair lift

3. You can click on any product to (1) read about the product (2) read other customer’s reviews (3) click “more info” to get more information (4) get a quote if you are interested in buying that product.

joey brunu review4. This customer wanted to get a quote on this Bruno Joey wheelchair lift, so they clicked on “Get a Quote” which takes them to a consumer information screen.  Fill out the few pieces of information, hit “submit” and off your request goes to authorized vendors in your area that sell that product.

5. Sit back and let the quotes start coming in!  The information is sent to multiple suppliers to ensure you are getting the best quote for the product you need.  After you speak with the various local dealers, you can then go back to Crytico and read reviews on their service as written by their current customers.

We hope this information was useful.  Please contact us anytime with any questions; info@crytico.com or call 844-CRYTICO.

How Does Crytico Work – Part 2: Reading Reviews on Products and Services

In part 1 of this blog, we focused on writing reviews and rating mobility products and services.  In this blog post we will concentrate on making the most of those reviews that have been written by your peers.

First we should point out that Crytico is a great resource whether you’ve used mobility products / services for decades or are brand new to this world of assisted devices.  With thousands of products on the website and hundreds of local mobility providers, consumers can browse crytico.com and get introduced to products and services they didn’t know exist.  Once you find a product that may interest you, click the “more info” or “get quote” button to be connected with a dealer who sells that product.  You no longer have to visit dozens of websites to figure out who sells what where…let us do the work for you.  Crytico brings everything together in one website.

Crytico

Did you know there was such a think as Automatic Door Openers for your home?   What about Standing Devices which are a great help for caregivers?  People are surprised to hear that Toyota makes a Sienna minivan equipped with a transfer seat called the Auto Access Seat.  These products and thousands more are listed on Crytico.com.

Tips for reading reviews on Crytico.com

  • Are they real?  Yes!  Every reviewer on Crytico.com is authenticated to ensure 100% authenticity.  If we cannot make contact with the reviewer, the post is removed from our website.
  • Find reviews that give specific information.  Hearing that a product or local provider is “great” is always good to hear, but does that help your buying decision?  Did the person mention a particular person they like or a particular feature that makes their life easier/harder?
  • Don’t be turned off by “negative” reviews.  Sometimes negative reviews are written out of frustration that may exacerbate a situation.  Thoroughly read the review and see if that person’s grief is warranted and see if there is a string of negative reviews on the same issue.  This may be a red flag.
  • How does the company respond to reviews?  Whether you are in the market for a wheelchair van, or looking for a local dealer who sells handicap accessible vans, it’s nice to see how the companies respond to people who have taken the time to write reviews on their products and/or business.

As always, contact us with any questions; info@crytico.com!

CRYTICO TO EXHIBIT AT THE LOS ANGELES ABILITIES EXPO

Tea, SD – January 27, 2015 – Crytico announced today it would be exhibiting in the upcoming Abilities Expo in Los Angeles, CA.  Crytico will have a 10 x 10 booth display with marketing material and information about their website, www.crytico.com.

Crytico

Launched in September of 2014, Crytico is a review website 100% dedicated to products and services for people with mobility issues.  Owners of mobility products can rate and write reviews on anything from walking aids, mobility scooters, driving aids, wheelchair vans, etc.  In turn, consumers of those products can go to Crytico.com to read reviews on products before they make their buying decision.

A unique feature of Crytico.com is the ability to link up consumers with local dealers who sell various mobility products.  With over 5000 products on the market and over 2000 local providers who sell mobility equipment, it can get perplexing and overwhelming for shoppers.  Not every local provider sells every mobility product, or every manufacturer.  Crytico’s goal is to take some confusion out of the shopping process by guiding consumers through the web of the mobility industry.

Abilities Expo is a perfect venue for us to spread awareness about Crytico.com,” said Monique McGivney a mobility advocate for Crytico.  “Every person that visits the expo can benefit from crytico.com since it lists hundreds of mobility providers and thousands of mobility products.  Whether a person just needs to be connected with someone who can repair their wheelchair to someone who is in the market for a home stair lift, Crytico.com can help.”

Crytico Abilities Expo

Crytico will be in booth #720 at the Abilities Expo on Friday March 6, 2015 through Sunday, March 8, 2015.  Hours for the expo are 11:00am to 5:00pm daily and admission is free.  The expo is about bringing necessary products and services together under one roof for the community of people with disabilities.  Abilities Expo goal is to introduce opportunities that can enrich your life…especially ones that you never knew were out there.
